Church History

Before the church was put into action Bishop and Pastor Brown consecrated themselves for an entire year (2008) in their home. The Rock of Salvation Christian Church was co-founded by the leading of the Holy Spirit through Bishop J.w. & Pastor Dr. Debra Brown in 2009. The first formal service was held on March 1, 2009. Bishop preached a sermon entitled "The Best Decision I Ever Made Was to Give My Life to Christ" based on Romans 10:8-13. The dedication of the church and installation of pastors took place during a celebration held on March 29, 2009. Pastor Kent McMillian of Frye's Chapel FWB located in Vass, NC rendered the dedication service for the church; while, Pastor Bernard Hamilton of Friendship Grove FWB located in Raeford, NC rendered installation service for the pastors.

In 2010, the Rock became covenant partners with King's Court Ministries International. In this partnership we have the following churches in covenant with the Rock: King's Court Ministries under the leadership of Apostles Chris and Esther Sanchious and Kingdom Life and Love Gateway under the leadership of Pastor Charlene Haywood. Bishop Brown serves as Bishop of King's Court Ministries International; while, Pastor Brown serves as the International Adjutant.

The church started with three (3) families. Today, we have many family members who encourage, pray for and support the Rock.We are growing in the Word and expecting God to increase the Kingdom through the Rock. We at the Rock have adopted the phrase "Helps, Hope, & the Holy Spirit". We want to be a Help to God's people; while, at the same time giving them Hope. We can only do this by the leading of the Holy Spirit. We  focus on building FAMILY. The Rock has been honored by the Fayetteville Department of Social Services for supporting Families. In November 2018, our leaders, Bishop and Pastor Brown, were honored at the Vessels of Honor Banquet held in Raleigh, NC, for their faithful service.

The Rock has the distinct honor of supporting other ministries and needs withing the surrounding communities. We have given to several outreach endeavors helping relief efforts in local communities, Africa, Haiti, Israel, and the Bahamas, to name a few.

Currently, the Rock has several ministries that include: Hebrews Brothers Men's Ministry (1st Conference held November 2018), Kingdom Builders Youth Ministry (1st Youth Day held 2010), Pampered in the Rock Ministry Women's Ministry (1st Conference held May 2016), Marriage Enrichment Ministry (1st Service held February 2019), Outreach Ministry (both domestic and international), and Music Ministry. Plans are currently in place for Singles Enrichment Ministry to start in 2020.

We continue to be faithful to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and trust the process of "Rejoicing in Hope of the Glory".
